TomTom GO 710 will be the mid-end model of the new TomTom GO series. As with it’s smaller brother the TomTom GO 510 it will have a new design and a high quality 4 inch LCD touch screen. According to the TomTom announcement it will also feature improved GPS reception performance, improved software and it will come with the free software application TomTom HOME which will serve as a portal, enabling users to easily manage, download and store content from their computer.
Availability and pricing information of the TomTom GO 710 are expected in April.

TomTom announced yesterday the launch of a new TomTom GO range. The new TomTom series includes the TomTom Go 510, 710 and910. The TomTom Go 510 will be the low-end model of the new TomTom Go series, however no information about pricing is yet available. Some of the new features of the TomTom Go 510 include.

According to LinuxDevices, ImCoSys, a Swiss company has released a datasheet of a Linux smartphone with an integrated GPS receiver. This new device is expected to be showcased in CEBIT 2006 next month. Some of the features of the ImCoSys Linux smartphone include:

802.11b WiFi, with WPA support

GPS receiver (the report doesn’t mention the chip used)

According to the previous report we mentioned about the new Mitac’s Mio products from Mobinaute, Mio in addition to the P350 ans P550 is going to showcase two new GPS devices the Mio C210 and the Mio H610.
The Mio C210 that you can see in the image above is will be using the SiRFStar III GPS receiver. Its form factor looks a lot like the TomTom GPS receivers and Sony’s latest NV-U series. The C210 will come preloaded with European maps from Teleatlas and will be using Windows CE .Net 4.2.
The Mio H610(pictured above), besides it’s navigation capabilities is reported to also have multimedia features. According to the report it will be able to playback both movies and music. Like the C210 it will use the SiRFStar III GPS receiver and Windows CE .Net 4.2. It will come preloaded with maps of 25 European countries and tourist guides. Finally it is said to have an impressive battery life of 17 hours.
There are no reports yet about the hardware specifications of these two devices.
It looks like Mio is trying hard to become one of the major players in the GPS market in the years to come.

Mobinaute, a French site has posted images and details of Mitac’s Mio P350 P550, two new Pocket PCs with integrated GPS. The P550 will be powered by a 400MHz processor and will have integrated GPS using the SiRFstar III chip. Other features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, an SDIO/SD/MMC slot. According to the reports it will use the Windows Mobile 5.0 as an operating system. The P350 is a lower end device compared to its big brother the P550. The main differences are that it won’t have Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities. These two new products are expected to be showcased at the CeBIT next month.

We talked yesterday about the HP iPAQ hw6900 Series making an appearance at the HP UK store. Today, HP made the official announcement of the hw6900 Series. This latest HP iPAQ handheld, will be able to receive email wirelessly using new “push” email functionality from Microsoft, a feature that will also be available by it’s competitor the Fujitsu Siemens Pocket-LOOX T Series.

Fujitsu-Siemens has officially announced the much anticipated Pocket Loox T810 and T830. Both these new, all-in-one handhelds are powered by a 416 Mhz Intel PXA270 CPU and both have integrated GPS using the powerful SiRFstar III GPS module. Some of the other features include 2.4 inch (240×240 pixels) 65k colors TFT touchscreen, 128 Mb Flash ROM, 64 MB system RAM, Bluetooth v2.0, WiFi (802.11b/g) and an ergonomic QWERTY keyboard. The T830 has two cameras one (640×480) for video calls and another 2MP auto focus camera for picture capturing, while the T810 doesn’t have one.
The T830 and T810 are expected to arrive at shops in July.

HP iPAQ hw6910 and hw6915 Mobile Messengers, the successors of the iPAQ hw6500 Mobile Messenger series have made an appearance at the HP UK store. They are both powered by an Intel PXA270 416MHz processor and have 192 MB of total memory (128 MB ROM and 64 MB SDRAM). Some of the other features they share are:

The only difference that I was able to spot between those two models, is that the hw6915 has an integrated HP Photosmart 1.3 MP Camera, while the hw6910 doesn’t.

Benefon, has announced a new mobile phone with full GPS capabilities. This new phone was created in co-operation with Navteq and is called Twig-Discovery. Twig-Discovery has a color TFT display with 256k colors to help you navigate using the preloaded Navteq maps, and it also supports voice turn by turn instructions.
Benefon is also launching what it calls the TWIG Services. These are divided in three Categories, Basic, Basic Plus and Advanced that will obviously have different charges.
Benefon will showcase the TWIG device at the 3GSM conference next week.

Medion is planing the launch of a new GPS device, the GoPal PNA 350. The PNA 350 will be the successor of last year’s 220T. The unit, will be powered by a Samsung 266MHz processor and will feature a 256MB memory card, an integrated GPS receiver, a 65k colour TFT touch screen and two high definition speakers. Navteq is the company supplying the map software for the PNA 350, and the maps of UK and Ireland maps will be preloaded to the device.
The GoPAL PNA 350 offers a free lifetime subscription to Traffic Message Channel (TMC), which uses FM to provide you with minute-by-minute information about traffic problems.
The unit will be available from March with a price of just under £300.
