Mexens Technology releases the Navizon API

Mexen’s Technology, the creators of the Navizon software announced today that they are releasing the API (Application Programming Interface) of the Navizon software. According to Mexen’s:

The API will make available the
positioning engine behind Navizon, allowing other applications to make use of
its dynamic geo-positioning network.

What does that mean for end users? Simply put, third party developers will be able to use the API for their own applications and make them Geo-aware. So we will probably see in the near features applications for mobile devices that will work differently depending on the location of the mobile device.

In addition to that they announced a couple of new features of the Navizon:

The Tracker allows members within a group to share their location with
other group members on an opt-in basis. This feature has been extremely
popular for businesses who want to track assets such as vehicles.

The Geotag allows members to post any information based upon a specific
geographic location. When other members will drive or walk nearby, they
will be notified of this post and the information it contains.

Microsoft Autoroute 2006 review

microsoft autoroute 2006 box

Trusted Reviews, reviews the Microsoft autoroute 2006 and reports

Autoroute 2006 is brimming with features and should appeal as much to map fans as to those wanting a laptop based GPS navigation system, not least because you get a swathe of countries included. One of its greatest strengths is its armchair route-planning services which are really easy to use. Couple this with the plentiful printout options and you may find that the GPS-antenna-in-your-car just isn’t required.

iNav iGuidance 2.1.3 Review

Pocketgpsworld has posted a review of the iNav iGuidance 2.1.3

Conclusion

iNav iGuidance is a very solid and easy to learn entry level program with the advantage of good map management and the ability to be used both on your mobile device and your laptop computer.

It doesn’t offer the advanced functions of the leading programs (like itinerary or POI warnings) but it does have some unique and useful features like speed limit warning and side-of-the-road announcement.

iNav iGuidance is a good value for money, currently selling for 109 USD at the Yahoo store.
